Since 1974, Crest Services has been providing residential services to individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental retardation. 
 
Now providing services to children and those with brain injury, CDAC, Habilitation, and Respite

Company history
 

 

1974-Crest Services begins serving consumers by opening 15 bed facility in Cedar Rapids, IA

 

1975-Crest added 15 bed facilities in Ottumwa, IA and Albert Lea, MN

 

1976-15 bed RCF/MR  home opened in Des Moines, IA

 

1984-Crest begins apartment program in Des Moines as more and more consumers live in their own apartments.   Albert Lea, MN starts semi-independent living program

 

1986-87-Crest expands its Cedar Rapids apartment program

 

1989-1991-HCBS Waiver programs come to Minnesota and then to Iowa

                  Harlan opens up RCF Home

 

1992-93-Continued expansion in Des Moines

 

1995-98-Crest downsizes most of the larger facilities to 4 bed sites

 

2004-Today-Expansion of programs continue, especially in the independent living programs.  HCBS funding comes to RCF/MR programs.  Respite services, espcially for children, and services for persons with brain injury added.  More medically fragile persons are being served every day.
